Functions

To regulate and supervise the exercise of rights/permits to, and use of, water in respect of the river system for which it is established.
Monitor water flows and water use in accordance with permits allocation.
Ensure that such water measuring devices as may be required to record water abstraction.
Promote Sub-Catchment protection.
Levy rates approved by the government upon permit holders. Charge fees for services rendered.
Attend to and/or facilitate resolution of water disputes.
Collection of data in catchment and participate in the integrated water resource management and development and planning.
Attend to resolution of water disputes.
Establish and maintain a database and information system of the catchment.
Maintain registers of all permits issued.
Ensure proper compliance with the water Act.
Determine applications for use of water and impose conditions considered necessary on granted permits.
